Major Depression is the term to describe a condition in which there is prolonged or intense depression, accompanied by low self-esteem and loss of interest in normal activities. Depression is the term used to describe abnormal levels of unhappiness or sadness which are difficult to alleviate, the symptoms can persist for weeks or even months. It can be a disabling condition which has an adverse effect on the individual's ability to function normally, particularly to socialise, to communicate, to eat or to sleep.
